There’s snow upon the rooftops, frost is in the air
In our alpine village, joy is everywhere
We keep the ancient customs, as in days of yore
and soon a yuletide visitor will knock upon our door

His chains go jingle jangle, his hooves go clitter clack
He’s coming soon with plenty room in the basket on his back
He seeks the naughty children who haven’t done their chores
And if you pout, then have no doubt, it’s you he’s coming for

Oh Krampus oh Krampus, we welcome you each year
The children are so well behaved because you’ll soon be here
Oh Krampus oh Krampus You make our lives so bright
The children are so clean and good, (clean and good ) because of Krampus night

Dieter does the dishes, Inga scrubbs the floor
Gunter takes the garbage out and never asks “what for?”
Heinrich hauls the water, Helga cures the meat
When children are obedient it makes our life so sweet

But Hans had better worry, he never helps at all
He’s always outside playing, never hears his mother call
He’s just the kind of child that Krampus comes here for
And if he doesn’t change his ways we won’t see Hans no more!

So children please remember, to do what parents bid
Spin the yarn and muck the barn and never tell a fib
For a Christmas demon, always can discern
The good ones from the naughty ones, this lesson you must learn
